Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Taylors Lane Highways Depot or any Sandwell location
Sandwell Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Street Lighting Gang Leader to join our Highways Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team delivering essential street lighting maintenance, repairs fault finding and installation works across the borough.
About the Role
- Lead and supervise a team carrying out installation, maintenance and repair of street lighting and illuminated street furniture.
- Coordinate daily works, provide technical guidance and ensure service targets are achieved.
- Undertake electrical testing, fault finding and inspection activities in compliance with relevant legislation.
- Drive and operate specialist vehicles, plant and equipment, including access platforms where authorized.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety and customer service.

Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2365 Level 3, 2360 Part 2 or 2330 Level 3).
- Minimum three years’ experience in street lighting installation, maintenance and fault finding.
- Experience leading, supervising or mentoring operatives in a highway electrical environment.
- Current full driving licence.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety, street lighting assets and safe systems of work.
Desirable Qualifications
- G39, ECS Gold Card, City & Guilds 2391, 18th Edition and HERS registration.
