3-12 Month Contract Role with a Local Authority

Summary

This is a 3-12 month contract role with a local authority, focused on delivering high-quality street cleansing and environmental maintenance services. The purpose of this role is to ensure public areas remain clean, safe, and attractive. The postholder will engage in various cleansing activities such as litter picking, sweeping, bin emptying, graffiti removal, and weed control. Additionally, the role requires providing excellent customer service and adhering to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out street cleansing activities including litter picking, sweeping, bin emptying, washing down public areas, graffiti removal, strimming, blowing, weed removal, and fly-tip clearance.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver efficient and effective environmental services across the district.
  • Undertake cleansing and maintenance duties to meet agreed quality standards and service requirements.
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, machinery, and vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Complete daily checks on vehicles, equipment, and machinery, and report any defects promptly.
  • Assist in the application of herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides following approved procedures and legislation.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to undertake job-related training and development.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week, included in a weekend rota working 1 weekend a month.
  • Pay rate: Level 1 £12.71-£13.88 for 12+ weeks.
  • Contract length: Up to 12 months.
  • Reason for vacancy: Vacant post cover.
  • Schedule: 7-3 during the week and 8-4 on weekends, following a bi-weekly schedule.
