Street Scene Protection Officer

Location: Braintree, Essex, CM7 9HB
Salary: £32,319 - £36,900 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Temporary 12-month contract (Maternity Cover)

Street Scene Protection Officer - The Role

As a Street Scene Protection Officer, you will be the visible face of enforcement in Braintree District, enhancing our streets through proactive and reactive enforcement action. You will carry out the Council's enforcement responsibilities in respect of anti-social behaviour and environmental legislation, helping to keep the district clean and green. You will work as part of our successful Enforcement team, dealing with a full range of street scene activities to improve the well-being and quality of life for residents and visitors.

Street Scene Protection Officer - Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out proactive and reactive investigations into anti-social behaviour and environmental crime
  • Issue fixed penalty notices, collect evidence, take statements and write comprehensive reports
  • Support victims and undertake PACE interviews as part of enforcement proceedings
  • Give evidence in court and handle matters from informal warning through to prosecution
  • Manage enforcement action including stray dog handling as required

Street Scene Protection Officer - You

  • Experienced in undertaking enforcement action and procedures, with working knowledge of PACE, CPIA and RIPA procedures
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic with excellent customer service skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors, using your own initiative and working effectively as part of a team
  • Hold a current driving licence and have experience giving evidence in court
  • Flexible and keen to learn, with a constructive approach to service delivery
