Company Description
Solent Streetworks Consultants Ltd provides street works permitting, noticing and coordination services to clients across the UK. Established in 2017, we support businesses with the day-to-day management of their street works, helping them meet statutory deadlines and local authority requirements. We also obtain maps of buried services, commonly known as safe digs or utility prints, to support the planning of works.
Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Street Works Coordinator to work on an ad-hoc basis, according to workload and business requirements. This is a self-employed, fully remote role. It is not a permanent or full-time position. Holiday cover and occasional weekend working may be required. The role includes preparing, submitting and managing permits and notices, processing variations and extensions, recording works starts and stops, monitoring deadlines and maintaining accurate records. You will also liaise with clients, contractors and local authorities, obtain utility prints and identify missing information or potential compliance issues promptly. Applicants must be able to work under their own initiative, take ownership of their workload and apply their own knowledge and judgement without routine supervision or step-by-step guidance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
