Role Overview
As a Streetcare Operative within Public Spaces, you will play a key role in helping to maintain clean, safe and attractive communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf. Working as part of a dedicated frontline team, you will contribute directly to improving the local environment and enhancing the quality of life for residents, visitors and businesses with a focus on Parks and Street Cleansing.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will undertake a variety of street cleansing and environmental maintenance duties, working both independently and as part of a team to support the Council’s ambitious environmental objectives. Reporting to the Streetcare team leader for daily operations, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of operational activities including:
- Litter picking
- Bin emptying
- Street cleansing
- Vegetation removal
- Weed control
- Responding to environmental issues within local communities
You will also operate a variety of mechanical equipment and assist with other service requirements, including adverse weather operations when required.
Requirements
Candidates will need to demonstrate a positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.

Essential:
- Experience of manual work
- Commitment to health and safety, customer care and teamwork
Advantageous:
- Experience within a street cleansing, grounds maintenance or environmental services setting
Location
The successful candidates will be based within the Council's Streetcare Service, operating from locations including Dinas, Tŷ Glantaf and Cynon Valley depots, with duties undertaken throughout the County Borough as required.
