Streetworks Inspector – 6 Month Contract

Location: Woolwich, London
Rate: £30.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 6 Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Availability: Candidates must be readily available for the role
Pay: Bi-Weekly

Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Streetworks Inspector to join our dynamic Network Management Team for a 6-month contract. This role is pivotal in overseeing and managing street works activities, ensuring they align with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act (TMA). The ideal candidate will offer expert guidance on street works coordination, permit and license processes, EToN management, inspections, defect monitoring, Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), and dispute resolution.

Responsibilities

Street Works Coordination

  • Facilitate the coordination of street works in compliance with NRSWA and TMA regulations.
  • Offer technical guidance on street works licenses and permits.
  • Draft Temporary Traffic Orders for utility and highway projects.
  • Oversee street works to ensure adherence to statutory requirements.
  • Assist in resolving disputes with utility companies and works promoters.

NRSWA Compliance & Inspections

  • Ensure compliance with NRSWA standards.
  • Handle Section 81 defective apparatus notifications.
  • Manage EToN notices using Symology.
  • Conduct inspections within designated timeframes.
  • Oversee defect inspections and necessary follow-up actions.
  • Support enforcement activities, including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices.

Systems & Data Management

  • Maintain the Electronic Street Works Register (Symology).
  • Update and manage data within corporate databases.
  • Address rejected EToN batch files and collaborate with external parties to resolve issues.
  • Generate monitoring reports and maintain precise records.
  • Contribute to the development of new procedures and improved information management systems.

Financial & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Generate reports on defect inspections, Section 74 charges, Lane Rental charges, sample inspections, and NRSWA income.
  • Assist with invoicing and fee recovery.
  • Prepare documentation for financial claims and audits.
  • Track income and expenses related to street works activities.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide advice and guidance to highways officers and colleagues.
  • Handle inquiries, correspondence, and stakeholder requests.
  • Represent the Network Management Team in meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate with contractors, utility companies, internal departments, and external organizations.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in Streetworks, Highways, Network Management, or Traffic Management.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA)
    • Traffic Management Act (TMA)
    • Street Works Permit Schemes
    • EToN Processes
  • Proficiency in street works management systems, preferably Symology.
  • Experience in monitoring and coordinating utility and highway works.
  • Excellent administrative and data management skills.
  • Ability to produce technical and performance reports.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Capability to work accurately and manage multiple priorities.
