Structural & Civil Project Manager
Contract Type: Contract, Inside IR35
Duration: 6 months ongoing
Location: Wallasey, office based
Pay Rate: £530 – £560 per day DOE
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full Time
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Structural / Civil Project Manager to join their Asset Management team, supporting the planning, development and delivery of structural and civil engineering projects.
This is a key role within a varied operational portfolio, covering assets including tunnels, operational hubs, ferry terminals, bus depots and associated infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial scoping through to delivery, including reviewing surveys and technical reports, developing project briefs, managing consultants and contractors, overseeing design and delivery, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope structural and civil engineering works and develop project briefs.
- Review asset condition surveys, technical reports and engineering information.
- Manage consultants, contractors and key project stakeholders.
- Oversee design development and project delivery from inception through to completion.
- Manage project budgets, programmes, risks and performance.
- Coordinate works within live operational environments.
- Provide technical input across structural and civil engineering projects.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant standards, regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Support the delivery of planned, condition-led and capital investment programmes.

About You
This role is suited to an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in structural and/or civil engineering, who can hit the ground running and take ownership of projects from day one.
Essential requirements:
- Proven experience delivering structural and/or civil engineering projects.
- Previous experience working within or alongside local authorities is essential.
- Degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of structural and civil engineering principles and asset condition assessment.
- Experience across areas such as drainage, highways/interface works, retaining structures, concrete and steelwork repairs.
- Strong project, contract, budget, programme and risk management experience.
- Experience managing consultants and contractors.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working within live operational environments.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership from day one.
- Willingness and ability to commute to the Wallasey office four days per week.
