Senior Structural Design Engineer for Offshore Structures
Location: Woking, UK (Paris considered)
Contract: 6–9 months, with potential conversion to permanent
Overview
We are looking for a Senior Structural Designer to join our client's offshore structures team on a contract basis, with a strong possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.
Based in Woking (UK), with Paris also considered, you will play a key role in the development of detailed structural designs for a range of offshore structures including platform and wind turbine foundations and associated equipment. Working closely with discipline engineers and fabrication specialists, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed 3D models and engineering drawings throughout project execution, ensuring designs support efficient fabrication, transportation and installation.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models for offshore platforms, foundations, subsea structures and associated equipment.
- Produce and review high-quality fabrication, assembly, general arrangement and installation drawings in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and other engineering disciplines including facilities, mechanical, electrical and installation engineering.
- Ensure designs are practical, constructible and aligned with fabrication and installation requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and model reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare material take-offs, bills of materials and drawing registers as required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers and drafting personnel, including ensuring adherence to CAD standards, drawing templates and modelling best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
- HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering Design, Mechanical Design, Structural Design or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years' experience in structural drafting and 3D modelling within the offshore energy sector.
- Strong understanding of offshore steel structures, including jackets, topsides, subsea structures, or similar assets.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, including development of large structural assemblies and fabrication drawings. Experience with E3D beneficial.
- Experience producing fabrication details including steelwork assemblies, connections and structural detailing.
- Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and document control processes.
- Understanding of fabrication, transportation and installation requirements for offshore structures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
- Experience mentoring junior designers would be advantageous.
