Company Description
TX11 Architects is a fast-growing London boutique practice specializing in private residential extensions, new builds, refurbishments, and commercial developments. To support our expanding workload across Greater London, we are seeking experienced structural engineers to deliver practical, high-quality structural designs in a fast-paced environment.
Role Description
As a Structural Engineer at TX11 Architects, you will join an active design team delivering real-world structural solutions across London and nearby counties. Working in a flexible hybrid/part-time capacity—combining office/site work across Greater London with work-from-home options—you will take ownership of structural designs from initial concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing structural analysis and detailed calculations for residential extensions, loft conversions, structural alterations, new-build homes, and commercial developments.
- Preparing detailed structural calculations, drawings, and details to be issued under TX11 Architects' company title block.
- Conducting on-site visits, inspections, and structural surveys across various London locations.
- Ensuring full compliance with UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, and local planning requirements.

Engagement & Insurance Terms
- PI Insurance Provided: You do not need to hold your own Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance. All work produced under our title block will be fully covered by TX11 Architects' structural PI insurance.
- Flexible Working Arrangement: We are ideally seeking a sole trader / freelance contractor (operating through your own personal business) OR an experienced engineer currently employed elsewhere who is looking for secondary part-time / freelance work.

Qualifications
- Proven Track Record: Solid, hands-on experience specifically in UK private residential projects (extensions, refurbishments, loft conversions, and new-build housing) as well as commercial schemes.
- Technical Mastery: High proficiency in structural analysis, steelwork design, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber design to UK standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- Local Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK Building Regulations and typical London housing stock (e.g., Victorian/Edwardian terrace alterations, basement additions, and urban infill sites).
