Structural Engineer
Birmingham | Hybrid Working | Permanent
Are you a Structural Engineer looking to work on a genuinely varied range of building projects?
Want to join an established consultancy where you can take real ownership of your work and continue developing technically?
Looking for a role that gives you exposure to different sectors, project types and structural challenges rather than doing the same work on repeat?
The Opportunity
An established structural and civil engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join its Birmingham team. The business works across a diverse portfolio of projects, with engineers involved throughout the design process from early-stage concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
You’ll be joining a collaborative team where engineers are encouraged to get involved in the wider project, work directly with clients and other design professionals, and develop their technical expertise.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
