About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary health, fire, and building safety professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice on property and construction matters, conducting detailed building surveys, and ensuring compliance with building regulations and industry standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct building surveys and inspections to assess the condition of properties and identify structural defects.
  • Work closely with our team of Building Safety Consultants and Fire Engineers to assist in the production of Building Safety Case Reports and Fire Strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and conservation of buildings.
  • Prepare detailed reports, including condition surveys and defect analysis.
  • Advise clients on building regulations, planning permissions, and legal compliance.
  • On-site mentoring of junior team members
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, technical advancements, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Chartered status with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in building surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in building surveying, property management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of building regulations, planning laws, and construction processes.
  • Proficiency in survey software and relevant industry tools.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial and residential property sectors.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency in buildings.
  • Membership of additional professional bodies related to surveying and construction.
