STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - Cheshire
ELB Recruit is representing a niche, well-established Structural Engineering consultancy based in Cheshire, who are looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer with 2+ years' consultancy experience to develop their career within a specialist, client-focused practice delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across Cheshire and the wider North West.
The successful candidate will join a close-knit team, working alongside experienced engineers on technically varied projects spanning domestic, luxury residential, commercial, industrial, and renewable energy developments, from initial concept through to construction.

Domestic & Luxury Residential

- Projects involve working with architects, homeowners, developers, and contractors to develop practical structural solutions that complement both the design intent and construction requirements.
Commercial & Industrial
- Gain experience across commercial and industrial schemes, including new-build developments, refurbishments, extensions, and specialist structures.
- You'll be exposed to a variety of structural forms and construction methods, with an emphasis on efficient, buildable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Renewables & Wind Turbine Support
- Develop experience within the growing renewable energy sector, supporting structural engineering projects associated with renewable infrastructure and wind turbine installations.
- This provides an opportunity to work on technically interesting and specialist structures while gaining exposure to a sector experiencing continued growth.
The Role
This position offers the opportunity to work across a genuinely varied project portfolio while developing your technical expertise within a specialist structural engineering environment. As a Structural Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of structural engineering solutions across a range of projects and work closely with senior engineers throughout the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of structural designs from concept through to detailed design.
- Produce structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Design structures in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber in accordance with current standards and codes.
- Work across domestic, residential, commercial, industrial, and renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Develop practical and commercially viable structural solutions with consideration for buildability.
- Support project delivery while maintaining quality, programme, and commercial objectives.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
- Liaise with clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Undertake site visits, surveys, and inspections as required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations.
- Take increasing responsibility for projects as your experience develops.
- Progress towards professional qualifications and Chartership.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Approximately 2+ years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
- Working towards Chartered status with IStructE or ICE.
- Experience designing building structures across a range of project types.
- Good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, and UK Building Regulations.
- Experience using structural analysis and design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, Robot Structural Analysis, ETABS, or similar.
- Understanding of construction methodologies and buildability considerations.
- Experience working within BIM environments; exposure to Revit would be advantageous.
- Strong technical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a close-knit team while managing your own workload.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continued professional development.
- An interest in developing experience across specialist and renewable energy projects would be advantageous.
