Structural Engineer

Greater Manchester

2–3+ Years' Experience

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

Emtech Recruitment is working with a well-established and award-winning Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy in Greater Manchester that is looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with around 2–3 years' post-graduate experience who is keen to take ownership of projects, develop their technical expertise, and progress towards Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered (CEng) status.

Working on a diverse range of residential, commercial, and industrial developments, you'll gain exposure to projects from initial concept through to construction while working alongside experienced Chartered Engineers.

The Role

As a Structural Engineer, you'll play an important role in delivering structural design projects and supporting clients throughout the design process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the structural design of projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer or Director.
  • Attending client and design team meetings to help develop project briefs and technical solutions.
  • Organising and reviewing site investigations where required.
  • Producing outline design schemes before progressing to detailed structural calculations.
  • Designing structures in steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry.
  • Preparing structural calculations using industry-standard software and hand calculations in accordance with UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.
  • Working closely with technicians to produce high-quality drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Assisting with project management and the day-to-day delivery of multiple projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
