Senior Structural Engineer

Client: BAE Systems

Location: Warton, Prestwick or Brough

Contract Length: 12 months

Hybrid: Onsite – Full time

37 hours per week

Rate: £31.60 PAYE or £42.50 Umbrella inside IR35

Overview

This is an opportunity to work on complex aerospace projects, contributing to structural analysis activities across metallic and composite aircraft structures. You will play a key role in delivering high quality engineering solutions while supporting and developing junior engineers within the team.

Clearance requirement: Eligible for SC clearance and UK eyes only

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural sizing and analysis
  • Finite Element Analysis
  • Fatigue and damage tolerance assessments
  • Producing engineering calculations using both traditional hand calculations and software tools
  • Demonstrating compliance against certification and programme requirements
  • Leading and delivering analysis tasks for yourself and other members of the team
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and improve ways of working

Key Skills

  • Degree qualified in a STEM discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong background in aircraft structural analysis
  • Experience working with metallic and composite structures
  • Finite Element Analysis experience
  • Previous experience within a design or structures engineering environment
  • Ability to operate across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills
