Job Description

Overview

Our work is underpinned by a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, ethics, and safety, and you’ll continue to build your technical capability, professional judgement, and experience on your pathway towards chartership. Join our growing Edinburgh team and help deliver a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland and beyond.

Our Edinburgh office delivers technically varied projects across Scotland and the wider UK, supported by close collaboration with Glasgow colleagues and our national Building Structures practice. Our work includes aviation, public-sector estate redevelopment, education, healthcare, housing and retrofit, energy and utilities, rail and transport facilities, emergency services, industrial and defence-related work, building surveys, refurbishment, asset assessment, technical advisory services, and NEC Supervisor roles.

You’ll contribute at different stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility, optioneering, and technical review through to detailed design, construction support, site inspection, and completion. This breadth of work offers excellent scope to build confidence, develop professional experience, and progress towards chartership with support from experienced engineers. Our Edinburgh team combines meaningful regional work with national and international support, knowledge sharing, structured development, and career progression opportunities.

Your role

As a Structural Engineer, you will:

  • Deliver projects within the Building Structures team.
  • Apply and develop engineering knowledge across structural projects.
  • Support project delivery from concept through detailed design and construction.
  • Contribute to practical, innovative, and sustainable design solutions.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.
  • Assist in delivering projects within programme and budget requirements.
  • Prepare technical calculations, reports, and design outputs.
  • Attend site visits and design team meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development and progression towards chartership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
