Structural Engineering Lead
Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Pattern: Flexible Working Available
MSS Infrastructure Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Structural Engineering Lead to head a specialist structural engineering and testing team within a unique laboratory and research environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and technically strong engineer looking for a role beyond traditional consultancy. You'll combine leadership, structural testing, client engagement, and business development while driving the success of a high-performing engineering team.
The Role
As Structural Engineering Lead, you will:
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and laboratory staff
- Oversee structural testing, assessment, and consultancy projects
- Provide technical leadership on complex engineering challenges
- Manage laboratory resources, facilities, and testing programmes
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders
- Support business growth through networking and identifying new opportunities
- Review technical reports, proposals, and engineering assessments
- Represent the business at client meetings, industry events, and conferences
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards

About You
We're looking for an articulate and commercially minded professional who can confidently represent the business while providing technical leadership.
You'll have:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards professional registration
- Strong UK structural engineering experience
- Previous experience leading engineering teams and projects
- Knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, and UK construction practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business development
