Team Leader, Structural Engineering

This employee-owned multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy is recruiting a Team Leader for their Structural Engineering team based in Christchurch.

This Team Leader role would suit an experienced Structural Engineer keen to advance their career in a lead level role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Christchurch team of structural design and draughting staff and act as the lead engineer on a number of significant projects. Requisites of this role include the willingness to acquire strong leadership skills under the guidance of the Structural Engineering Director, and the ability to develop relationships externally with new clients, in line with the continued expansion and growth of the consultancy.

The consultancy is resourced in structural, civil, geotechnical, environmental and fire engineering services and has offices in Auckland, Christchurch, and Whakatane. The individual engineering teams integrate with each other across projects in a supportive team working environment. Current projects include residential, commercial, and industrial builds for a range of architects, developers, planners, surveyors and building owners in both the private and public sectors.

Requirements

Ideally you will already be based in New Zealand and hold the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in Structural Engineering. New Zealand based experience would be highly advantageous.
  • A tertiary qualification in Structural Engineering.
  • CPEng registered or currently working towards this.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with solid client relationship building ability.
  • Strong technical ability – experience in design with steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures.
  • Previous Team Leader experience is not a necessity.
