Structural Lead

Location: Blyth, North East England

Sector: Data Centres / Mission Critical

Project: £10bn Hyperscale Data Centre Campus

Our client is a leading international main contractor delivering some of Europe's most advanced hyperscale and mission-critical data centre developments. They are seeking an experienced Structural Lead to join the delivery team on a landmark £10bn hyperscale data centre campus in Blyth, North East England.

This flagship development, one of the largest data centre campuses in Europe, will be delivered over the next decade and represents one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading the structural delivery strategy across a major phase of the project, ensuring all structural works are executed safely, to the highest quality standards and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of structural works across the project lifecycle
  • Manage structural subcontractors, specialist suppliers, and site engineering teams
  • Coordinate structural design development, technical reviews, and construction methodology
  • Review structural drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical submissions
  • Ensure structural works comply with design intent, project specifications, and quality standards
  • Manage interfaces between structural, civil, architectural, MEP, and commissioning disciplines
  • Monitor programme performance and support recovery actions where required
  • Manage RFIs, technical queries, design changes, and engineering solutions
  • Oversee inspections, testing, quality assurance, and handover documentation
  • Support temporary works coordination and structural construction planning
  • Attend design, progress, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders
  • Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain programme objectives
  • Promote high standards of health, safety, and quality across all structural activities

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Structural Lead, Senior Structural Engineer, or Structural Manager on major construction projects
  • Previous experience delivering hyperscale data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial, energy, or large-scale commercial developments
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural engineering principles, reinforced concrete, steel structures, and complex construction methods
  • Experience managing structural subcontract packages and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, design coordination, and quality requirements
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience working within large, complex construction environments
