At Joseph Joseph
We are driven by a simple yet powerful belief — that intelligent design has the ability to transform everyday living. We create distinctive, thoughtfully engineered products that not only solve real-world problems but also bring joy, beauty, and functionality to daily life.
Headquartered in London, we have grown into one of the world’s most admired houseware brands, with a presence in over 100 countries and partnerships with leading department stores, independent retailers, and a rapidly expanding e-commerce business.
We are looking for a talented Structural Packaging Designer to join our in-house Brand & Packaging team. Reporting directly to the Director of Packaging, this is an important role within the wider New Product Development department.
Applicants should be highly motivated, with proven experience in the design of structural packaging for consumer goods, and eager to push the brand forward with industry-leading design. Working to deliver two seasonal launches per year, alongside other bespoke projects, candidates should be highly organised, able to manage multiple projects at once and work well under pressure. The role requires delivery of highly effective structural packaging solutions, on budget and to deadlines set out in critical paths.
What you will be doing:
- Creating initial 2D packaging structures, specifications, and quotation documents during early product development phases to meet all function, budget, quality, and brand/graphic communication requirements.
- Building detailed packaging assemblies in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) where necessary to develop initial 2D packaging structures to finished designs.
- Translating these to final specifications and cutter guides for manufacturing and for brand/graphic communication concepting by the artwork design team.
- Creating 3D packaging prototypes in card to illustrate structural concepts and support reviews at meetings with key department stakeholders.
- Creating designs for cardboard free-standing retail display units and pallet displays for bespoke projects and working with suppliers on final construction.
- Managing and maintaining a business-wide packaging database holding all detailed packaging data for all SKUs as well as other structural packaging related admin tasks.
- Liaising and collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers on structural packaging to ensure cost- and manufacturing-efficiency.
- Assessing the impact of packaging legislation changes on existing packaging formats and partnering with sourcing, product development, and suppliers to adapt packaging to ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Maintaining the systems, documentation, and processes required to support reporting on current and future packaging legislation.
- Providing support as part of the wider 2D Brand & Packaging team in the design and artwork of packaging, sales presenters, seasonal product catalogues, exhibition graphics, in-store merchandisers, and promotional materials.
- Creating, managing, and maintaining standardised specification documents to be used consistently across all projects.
- Continuing to manage and optimise the structural packaging design process and stay on top of the latest innovations and changes in print and packaging design - propose new ideas, help improve practice, investigate new materials and print techniques.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
