Project Engineer Opportunity in Glasgow

Morgan Hunt are working with a well-established engineering consultancy to recruit a Project Engineer to join their Glasgow office. The consultancy has a strong reputation of delivering technically excellent engineering projects across Scotland. The work spans a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, retail, industrial, and, in particular, education.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative consultancy. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction, and completion.

Responsibilities

  • Developing structural engineering designs from concept through to detailed design and construction
  • Working on a variety of building structures - (steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, etc.)
  • Preparing structural calculations, specifications, reports, and technical information
  • Producing and reviewing engineering drawings and 3D models
  • Working collaboratively with technicians, engineers, contractors, and other members of the design team
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary design meetings and project discussions
  • Identifying design risks and developing solutions
  • Assisting with site inspections
  • Supporting project delivery to programme, budget, and the required technical standards

What You Offer

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Roughly 4 years of relevant experience within a structural engineering consultancy
  • Good knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes
  • Experience designing structures in steel, concrete, masonry, and/or timber
  • Experience producing structural calculations and technical reports
  • Experience using structural analysis and design software (TeklaSD, Tedds, etc.)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A practical approach to engineering, with an appreciation of buildability, cost, and programme
  • A genuine interest in developing technically and professionally
