We currently have a vacancy open for a Structural Technician who is looking to develop their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK. This role will be based at our Braintree office, subject to business requirements the role may be eligible for hybrid working.
About the Role
As a Structural Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of structural services for a range of projects. You will be providing technical expertise, supporting the coordination process with multi-disciplinary teams, whilst ensuring compliance within all relevant design standards and regulations.
Key Areas of Responsibilities Will Include:
- Produce and coordinate 2D and 3D design outputs, including drawings, details, models, and schedules, in line with project standards and requirements.
- Develop accurate and constructible details from engineer sketches, calculations, and specifications.
- Maintain consistent presentation, layering, and model organisation across all deliverables.
- Undertake clash checks and assist with resolving issues with internal teams.
- Support the team in developing reinforced concrete (RC) detailing and reinforcement schedules, under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support BIM Execution Plan (BEP) requirements, including contributions to the Model Production & Delivery Table (MPDT), and ensure compliance with EIR/AIR.
- Demonstrate working understanding of CDM 2015 principles, identifying and recording design risk information on drawings/models.
- Manage small work packages, plan workloads, and report progress against programme and budget.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CAD/BIM standards and processes.

Requirements
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Progress toward EngTech (or long-term IEng) with ICE or IStructE
- Proficient knowledge of CDM 2015 principles to identify, record and communicate design risk information
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
- Intermediate knowledge of Civil 3D, Site 3D, Revit and CDE Platforms
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650, CDE environments, revision/status codes, and structured transmittal processes
- Ability to interpret technical information with minimal supervision and resolve routine design/coordination issues
- Strong communication and coordination skills; able to interface with suppliers, site teams, and external design disciplines
- Good grasp of UK detailing practices, buildability considerations, tolerances, and construction methods
This role requires you to have a full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle, and will be subject to a DBS Enhanced check.

Additional Information
- Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
- Holiday: 25 days (pro-rata'd) plus bank holidays.
