Network Installation Engineer

Bristol | Fully On-site | 6-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | BPSS Clearance Required

We are looking for an experienced Network Installation Engineer to join a busy installation team delivering network infrastructure projects across a large and complex site in Bristol.

This is a hands-on, fully site-based role and would suit someone with strong experience in structured cabling, fibre installation, termination, and testing.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Installing network cabinets, containment, and Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling
  • Terminating, testing, and labelling copper and fibre cabling
  • Installing and patching network switches
  • Installing fibre optic cabling via internal, pit, and duct routes
  • Fibre termination, patching, testing, and fault finding
  • Using OTDR equipment for fibre testing and troubleshooting
  • Testing copper and fibre cabling using Fluke testers
  • Completing QA documentation and daily reports
  • Working to project plans, RAMS, and site procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Network Installation Engineer, Structured Cabling Engineer, Fibre Engineer, or similar
  • Strong hands-on experience with fibre optic termination, including cold cure and splicing
  • Strong experience with Cat5e and Cat6 copper cabling
  • Experience testing copper and fibre cabling using Fluke testers
  • OTDR testing and fault-finding experience
  • Experience working with network cabinets, containment, and structured cabling infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of current network installation practices and health & safety requirements
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team
  • Experience supporting or supervising other engineers would be beneficial
