Join our Smart Infrastructure team, a high-performing and collaborative business unit driving cutting-edge projects across public and private sectors. As a Pre-sales Design Consultant, you’ll become a key player in shaping intelligent solutions for our customers—spanning Structured Cabling, Racks, PDU, WiFi, CCTV, and AV.

Whether you’re based in one of our main offices or working remotely, you’ll be part of a dynamic environment where technical excellence is valued, professional growth is supported, and your impact will be felt nationwide.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design and estimation process for structured cabling and infrastructure solutions
  • Produce detailed bids and cost models for tenders, working closely with Account and Solutions teams
  • Engage directly with customers to provide expert input, attend meetings, and present solutions
  • Provide technical authority across a wide range of projects, acting as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders
  • Apply best practices and industry standards such as BICSI to ensure quality and compliance in all design work
  • Support solution development across various technologies including IP-connected devices, WiFi, AV, and CCTV
  • Deliver accurate, scalable, and commercially sound designs using CAD, Bluebeam, and estimation tools
  • Influence design decisions, contribute to enterprise-level planning, and maintain a high level of technical documentation
  • Support colleagues by sharing expertise and coaching less experienced team members

What you'll need

  • Proven experience in design and estimation for structured cabling, pathway systems, and Smart Infrastructure solutions
  • Strong understanding of IP-connected devices (e.g. CCTV, AV, WiFi, Digital Signage, Cellular Solutions)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CAD, and Bluebeam
  • Design certifications from key manufacturers (e.g. Corning, Systimax, Panduit, Nexans/Aginode)
  • Knowledge of BICSI standards and willingness to work toward RCDD, CDCDP, CNIDP, or ECSE certifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences
  • Analytical mindset with strong commercial awareness—confident in creating cost models, assessing risk, and maximizing profit opportunities
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team on high-value projects (£500K+)
  • Familiarity with NEC-3, JCT contracts, and key commercial terms such as LDs, retentions, and warranties
  • Experience designing solutions for Data Centres, Warehouses, and complex enterprise environments
