Sector: Rail Infrastructure / Major Projects
Type: Permanent

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading organisation delivering major rail infrastructure projects in the UK, is seeking a Structures Design Engineer - Civil & Track Interface to join their growing engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the integration of civil structures and railway track systems on a large-scale infrastructure programme. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will support the coordination and management of interfaces between structures such as bridges, viaducts, tunnels and earthworks, and track systems, ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable and aligned with project requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with design, construction and stakeholder teams to resolve technical challenges, manage interfaces and contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and integration of interfaces between railway track systems and civil structures.
  • Assist in the review of structural movements, tolerances and interface details, identifying potential risks and constraints.
  • Work closely with design teams to ensure compatibility between track and civil engineering elements.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical workshops and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Interface Control Documents (ICDs), interface registers and associated documentation.
  • Monitor interface actions and facilitate timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Prepare meeting notes, technical summaries and coordination records to support effective communication.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities to improve safety, buildability, quality and project efficiency.
  • Assist with risk identification, reporting and mitigation related to track and structure integration.
  • Ensure interface activities remain aligned with programme milestones and project objectives.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve engineering issues.
  • Provide technical support during design development, construction and project handover phases.
  • Support monitoring and assurance activities, including review of instrumentation and monitoring data where required.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety and environmental awareness across all activities.
  • Attend meetings and workshops across project locations as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
