As a Student Adviser and Safeguarding Officer at Stanmore College, you will play a vital role in supporting students throughout their college journey, providing guidance, early intervention, and safeguarding support that enables them to overcome challenges and thrive.

We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and resilient individual who can build trusted relationships with young people, work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies, and respond confidently to safeguarding concerns. Through your support, you will help create an inclusive environment where students feel valued, protected, and empowered to achieve their goals.

The Role

Working within the Student Support team, you will provide pastoral guidance, safeguarding support, and targeted interventions for a caseload of students, ensuring they receive the support they need to remain safe, engaged, and successful.

You will:

  • Provide advice, guidance, and pastoral support to students, helping them overcome personal, social, and academic barriers.
  • Act as a Safeguarding Officer, responding to safeguarding concerns and working with colleagues and external agencies to support vulnerable learners.
  • Support students through key transition points and develop tailored support plans where additional intervention is required.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, curriculum staff, and external professionals to promote student wellbeing and success.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records and contribute to reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive college environment where students feel safe, respected, and able to achieve their full potential.
  • Act as a Safeguarding Officer, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and supporting a safe and inclusive College environment.

A positive student experience is built on more than excellent teaching. It relies on students feeling safe, engaged, and able to access the right support throughout their time at college. This role plays a vital part in creating an environment where learners can focus on their education, participate fully in college life, and achieve their ambitions.

About You

Students need to know where they can turn when they are experiencing difficulties, and having the right support at the right time can make a real difference to their college experience. The Student Support team provides an important point of contact for students who may need additional guidance or intervention.

In this role, you will work directly with students and colleagues to respond to concerns, provide appropriate support and help remove barriers that may affect a student's wellbeing, attendance, or progress.

Salary:

£31,156 – £33,543 per annum
