We are seeking to recruit a graduate student available from September to December to support a short-term project on User Experience Design and AI-enabled prototyping at the University of Oxford. This is a flexible, part-time role (maximum 100 hours over 8-12 weeks), starting in September/October (exact date to be agreed).

Role overview

The Student UX Assistant will support the day-to-day delivery of UX consultancy, training and design activities across the UX Centre of Excellence while also contributing to the development of AI-enabled prototyping methods. Working alongside the Lead Designer, the role offers practical experience in user-centred design and AI-enabled design methods.

The role will support activities including:

Daily delivery

  • Preparing workshop materials
  • Facilitating workshops
  • Preparing prototypes
  • Organising user research sessions
  • Creating training materials
  • Supporting communications

AI projects

  • Assisting with AI-enabled prototyping
  • Supporting user testing
  • Helping document case studies

Pay and duration

  • £19.67 per hour
  • Up to 100 hours over 12 weeks

Essential criteria

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English
  • Interest in UX, HCI, AI, digital services or service design
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in UX/UI design
  • Experience in qualitative research
  • Experience in facilitating workshops
  • Some experience of coding, scripting or building digital prototypes
