Job summary

We are looking for motivated, personable, and diligent candidates for the role of Travel Survey Enabler. Enablers will work in small teams across Edgbaston campus to let students and staff know about the survey and how to complete it.

Main duties

Each travel survey shift will take place at a different location (predominantly outdoors) on the main Edgbaston campus. You will work in a small team to:

• Engage staff and students on campus and motivate them to complete the survey via an online form
• Communicate with staff and students with clarity and confidence
• Strive to meet challenging targets for engagement
• Work as a team to ensure maximum engagement
• Understand and communicate the goals of the survey
• Appreciate key issues relating to taking surveys, including data collection and protection, and communicate with staff and students with understanding and integrity

Required knowledge, skills, qualifications & experience

• Experience working or volunteering in a role with contact with the public
• Experience of collecting survey data, ideally via face-to-face interviews
• Experience engaging and motivating members of the public to take an action such as complete a survey or try something new
• Excellent attention to detail
• Team-working skills
• Outstanding professionalism and punctuality
• Maths and English at GCSE grade C or equivalent
• If non-native English speaker, level B2

The working pattern for this role will be casual shifts of 2 hours at a time. Three shifts available per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, either in the morning, midday, and late afternoon. The maximum working hours will be subject to the University of Birmingham’s Student Working Hour Restrictions here.
