Job Context
The University of Birmingham’s Venues and Events team host conferences, events and meetings on campus and at The Exchange. Sustainability is important to how the team operates and we are working hard to encourage delegates to make sustainable commuting choices when attending events on campus. As a Travel Survey Operative, you will contribute to this work by recording how delegates have travelled to events.
Role Summary
We are looking for confident and personable candidates to work individually or in pairs during registration at an event. You will approach delegates as they arrive to ask them how they travelled to the venue and where they travelled from and record the information.
Main Duties
- Attend a select number of events on campus or at The Exchange during registration
- Engage delegates in the survey by asking travel questions and explain the reasons for the survey if needed
- Manually record the information and ensure that it is returned to the Venues and Events team
- You will need to be flexible in terms of working patterns as event dates and times will be ad-hoc
Required knowledge, skills, qualifications & experience
- Experience working or volunteering in a role with contact with the public
- Strong interest in sustainability issues or related course subject
- Professionalism and punctuality
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
