Background
Opportunities have arisen for two Student Engagement Officers to join us, one in The City Law School and one in the School of Policy & Global Engagement.
The City Law School is the first in London and University of London to educate students and practitioners at all stages of legal education. The School has made significant advances in both research and education and seeks to build upon that success to become one of the UK’s leading law schools as it takes advantage of the new regulatory landscape for legal education.
The School of Policy and Global Affairs was established in 2022 and encompasses our Economics, International Politics and Sociology and Criminology Departments. Located in one of the world's greatest financial and political centres, we engage with the key challenges and debates that are shaping policy formation in a rapidly changing world. Our highly rated courses in Policy and Global Affairs subject areas equip students with the knowledge and skills to respond to the world’s most pressing policy challenges. With strong links to industry and policy organisations, our graduates forge exciting careers in multinational businesses, consultancies, government departments and non-governmental organisations.

Responsibilities
The appointed Student Engagement Officers will be responsible for helping to identify and address barriers which prevent students from engaging with learning. This includes providing administrative support for attendance and engagement monitoring, and other related processes; working with students and support services to identify and address concerns relating to students, and ensuring the reasonable adjustments policy is implemented effectively.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be educated to A-level or equivalent and have relevant experience of working in a busy customer-focused environment, ideally in Higher Education or a similar setting. They should be confident using IT systems, including MS office packages, spreadsheets and databases. Experience of student records systems (particularly SITS) is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have well-developed verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to draft correspondence and reports, knowledge of data protection requirements and experience of handling sensitive information and situations. They will also have excellent organisational skills, the ability to analyse problems and identify solutions and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Additional Information
- Closing date for applications: 18th October 2026 at 11:59pm
- Interviews are scheduled to take place from 5th November 2026
- The selection process will involve an interview and assessment. Interviews will last no more than 30 minutes. There will be a short competency test to follow the interview that candidates should allocate an additional 45 mins for completion (1hrs 15 minutes in total for interview and assessment). Further details will be confirmed at the interview stage.
