Students are expected to RSVP to invitations for networking events and interviews within the provided time frame. They should also attend all confirmed interviews and recruitment activities (unless they inform recruiters in advance due to illness or adversity). Employers retain the authority to cancel interview invitations if students fail to meet deadlines.

  • Students who do not sign up for an invited interview, do not appear for a scheduled interview, and/or cancel an interview with less than 48 hours notice will have their Handshake access blocked, and interviewing privileges will be suspended until a letter of explanation is written. These offenses are taken seriously and will be kept on record.
  • Legitimate conflicts can and will occur. Reasonable conflicts include acceptance of another job offer, personal illness, subsequent interviews/office visits with other recruiting organizations or death in the family.
  • Students may withdraw their candidacy for a position at any time and for any reason, though doing so must be professionally communicated to both the hiring organization and Business Career Services in a timely manner.
  • If you will not be signing up for an on-campus interview for which you applied and have been invited, or need to cancel a scheduled interview, contact Business Career Services at professionalism@ku.edu for guidance in communicating your situation to the employer. Failure to comply will result in disruption to your Handshake account.
  • Students who are studying abroad should contact Business Career Services directly with an expression of interest in the position promoted on Handshake.
  • Business Career Services can refer along a resume to the recruiting group outside of the system. The student should not apply to On-Campus Recruiting postings through the system as a courtesy to other applicants, the employer and Business Career Services.
  • Falsifying data, such as your GPA, dates of graduation, major/minor, work experience, eligibility to work in the United States or other information is unethical and in violation of Business Career Services policies.
  • If you falsify documents or misrepresent yourself to any employer, via Handshake or in your independent job search, KU Business Career Services has the right to rescind your privileges to use its services. Employers have the right to withdraw an offer or terminate your employment for misrepresentation.
  • Upon agreeing to a job opportunity, whether through the Business Career Services recruitment program or your independent job quest, it is expected that you will fully discontinue any further job-search efforts.
  • If you find yourself unsure about committing to an offer, please arrange a meeting to seek guidance from a Business Career Services advisor. Going back on your commitment is unprofessional and can damage both KU's standing within the employment community and your personal reputation. Should you retract your commitment to an offer, Business Career Services reserves the right to restrict your participation in future on-campus interviews.
  • Students should avoid withdrawing from a commitment except for in cases of substantial adversity. In such situations, the student must notify Business Career Services before informing the employer.

The Business Career Services team provides support to recent graduates and alumni of the KU School of Business. As a recent graduate, the office offers a full extension of comprehensive professional support services.

For other alumni, the office provides two complimentary one-on-one appointments. For needs that extend beyond two appointments, fees may be assessed.

Room Reservations

Interview rooms are primarily reserved for students scheduled for interviews. If a room is not reserved, students may use it, but they may be asked to vacate the space if a student with a scheduled interview, an employer needs the room, or if the room is needed by the Business Career Services staff. The authority to vacate the room will be determined by Business Career Services staff and not by students.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Priority of Reservations

Once interview spaces are reserved, they are considered occupied for all future bookings, whether for employers, students, or staff programming. Reserved rooms remain unavailable for other uses until the reservation is released. In general, once a reservation is made, it will be honored.

Reservations for Programming

Reservations for programming through our office will be made in advance, with key recruitment times reserved until final employer bookings are confirmed. These reservations will be clearly marked on each space and interview room calendars to prevent scheduling conflicts during peak weeks. Holds for the fall term should be placed by July, and for the spring term by December. Peak-time reservations will only be released once employer requests are finalized. This may mean space is held until the week prior to ensure adequate space for employer interviews, needs, and last-minute alterations. Interview and career programming reservations take priority. Once the semester begins, existing reservations will be honored, or alternative space will be provided to accommodate the requestor, including employers.

Cleanliness

Users of the interview rooms are expected to keep the spaces clean and tidy. Please dispose of any trash, return chairs to their original positions, and ensure the room is ready for the next user. Failure to maintain cleanliness may result in a loss of future room privileges.

Noise Level

To maintain a professional environment, please keep noise levels to a minimum inside and near the interview rooms. Conversations should be held quietly, and cellphones should be set to silent. This policy ensures a distraction-free atmosphere for all interview participants.

Authority Over Reservations

Business Career Services and the business relations manager have ultimate authority over interview room reservations. This policy is designed with transparency and respect for the importance of space on campus. We aim to share resources and time equitably.

Accountability Policy

Students should review the below information before registering for a professional development point-eligible event or activity involving an external party.

  • By registering for a point-eligible event involving an external party, you acknowledge the commitment of time and resources others have made to ensure your ability to participate, as well as your responsibility in maintaining the reputation of the KU School of Business.
  • While we understand that life can present unforeseen emergencies, no-showing the day of the event — or canceling less than 24 hours out — without extenuating circumstances will result in a hold on your Suitable account. You will earn no points until you have provided a formal letter of explanation. Repeat offenses will result in an extended hold on your Suitable account up to a semester in length and ineligibility for scholarships. You also may be referred for review of academic misconduct.

Points Exceptions

Students who transfer into the School of Business during their junior year or after should review the below guidelines.

  • Students who transferred into School of Business from another university or from another KU major (not pre-business) Students who transfer into the School of Business during their junior year or after from an external institution or another major (defined as having 60+ transfer credit hours) will have some credit applied to their Suitable account to accommodate for their shortened timeline.

Requests for the Junior/Senior Transfer Waiver will be checked against advising records, and you may be contacted for further verification.

If this describes your situation, you must complete all requirements as normal in order to enroll in MGMT 498.

Joining Handshake

By using Handshake, students verify that they have read and agree to the outlined recruiting policies shared in the answers to the FAQ below.

However, it is still possible that a well-disguised employment scam might not be detected, and the university does not guarantee job postings or endorse any posted position or employer.
