About The Role
Student Information Desk Advisor
This full-time post is available from 1 October 2026 on a fixed term basis to cover a secondment until 31 July 2027.
The starting salary will be from £30,878 on Grade D, depending on qualifications and experience.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
We are currently recruiting for the role of Student Information Desk Advisor. The Education and Academic Services (EAS) Directorate provides all the key administration and education support activities that underpin the student experience from Fresher's week to Graduation. This role is within the Student Information Desk team, which provides frontline support to students on a wide range of non-academic subjects including Fees and Funding, Graduation, Student Records, Accommodation and AccessAbility.
The position of Student Information Desk Advisor offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced customer services professional. The University of Exeter is looking for a dynamic and committed individual who has the required experience and skills to support, develop and shape a high-profile service critical in delivering the best student experience at one of the UKs most ambitious universities.
The Advisor will be part of a dedicated and flexible ‘in-house’ team. They will work closely with the other Advisors to assist the SID Team Manager by supervising advisors working on the front desk in core day-to-day activities. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a passion to exceed customer expectations and promote a customer focused approach in the team. They will be responsible for ensuring all customers receive a prompt, professional and integrated service.

About You
We are looking for an individual with:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A friendly and professional manner
- Excellent organisational and IT skills
- The ability to lead a team without supervision, managing performance and developing staff skills, expertise and confidence.
The successful applicant will also need to be flexible with working hours to ensure the Student Information Desk is fully operational between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. There will be a requirement for some evening, weekend, bank holiday and University closure day working to cover operational requirements and changes.
