Job Title: Student Mentor

Location: Bristol and South Gloucestershire

Start Date: September

Salary: £25.00 per hour

Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people with SEND to overcome barriers to education? Have you completed a TEFL or TESOL qualification, or gained experience as a youth leader, sports coach, mentor, or support professional? Would you like to use your transferable skills to help pupils build confidence, develop independence, and engage positively with their education?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with specialist SEND schools across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to recruit a Student Mentor. These settings support children and young people with a range of additional needs and provide structured, supportive learning environments focused on engagement, wellbeing, and positive educational outcomes.

The Student Mentor will work on a long-term basis from September, supporting pupils with SEND through tailored one-to-one and small group interventions. Candidates with backgrounds in TEFL, TESOL, youth leadership, or sports coaching are encouraged to apply, as skills in communication, motivation, relationship building, and engaging young people are highly transferable to this Student Mentor role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
