Company Description

Coffee & Comms produces the University of Exeter’s Communication, Drama & Film Department podcast, focusing on thoughtful conversations about careers, development, and futures within and beyond academia. The podcast highlights diverse voices and experiences, offering listeners practical insights and engaging storytelling. Based at the University of Exeter, Coffee & Comms collaborates closely with university staff, students, and external guests to create high-quality audio content. The team values creativity, clarity of communication, and a supportive environment for developing media and production skills. Applicants will join a small, collaborative group committed to making meaningful, accessible content for the university community and wider audiences.

Role Description

The Podcast Producer will manage the end-to-end production of the CDF podcast on-site in Exeter. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves:

  • Recording audio

The Podcast Producer will support publishing and promotion, including:

  • Writing episode descriptions
  • Collaborating on social media posts
  • Monitoring listener feedback

This is a part-time role that requires:

  • Regular on-site presence
  • Collaborative work with university stakeholders
  • Consistent delivery of episodes to agreed timelines

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at the University of Exeter
  • Experience with podcasting equipment or audio production is not needed as we are happy to offer training but would be beneficial
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to manage episode schedules, guest coordination, and production timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for guiding interviews, scripting, and writing episode notes
  • Comfortable regularly working on-site at Exeter University and collaborating with diverse stakeholders in an academic environment
  • Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, Reaper)
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering clear, accessible, and inclusive content
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team, take initiative, and manage multiple episodes in various stages of production
  • Relevant education in communications, drama, or a related field is an advantage but not required
