The Role
LSBU are excited to be recruiting to three Student Progress Advisors as part of a new and exciting team within Student Success. The Student Progress Advisors play a key role in supporting student success, retention and engagement at LSBU. You will provide proactive, solution-focused support to students who may be at risk of disengaging from their studies, helping them to overcome challenges and remain connected to their course and the wider University community.
Working creatively with a caseload of students, you will build trusted relationships through regular one-to-one support, using engagement, attendance and assessment data to identify needs and deliver timely interventions. You will work closely with academic colleagues and specialist support services across the University, ensuring students can access the right support at the right time and helping to create positive outcomes for a diverse student community.
What You Will Bring
- Be skilled in building trusted relationships and supporting students through a range of challenges, including emotional, personal or wellbeing related
- Have strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to gather information, ask effective questions and provide practical, student-focused support
- Understand how to engage students who may be disengaged, hard to reach, or at risk of withdrawing, and be committed to helping them succeed
- Be able to work collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues to coordinate effective support and referrals
- Have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload, prioritise competing demands and maintain accurate records
