The role
The Student Progress Team Leader provides operational leadership for the Student Progress function, an exciting new team within Student Success, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, proactive support that enhances student success, retention and overall experience at LSBU. The postholder oversees the day-to-day work of Student Progress Advisers, supporting creative and solution-focused interventions for students at risk of disengaging from their studies and building strong relationships with academic and professional services colleagues.
A key part of the role is ensuring that staff are confident, well supported, and working effectively with specialist support services across the University. Working closely with the Student Progress and Advice Manager, the Team Leader will build a high-performing Student Progress team, developing consistent policy and practice, monitoring KPI and outcome data, identifying emerging trends, and implementing improvements that create positive outcomes for a diverse student community.
What You Will Bring
- Have experience of supporting students or service users with complex needs, including those experiencing emotional distress, and be able to build trusted, effective relationships
- Have a proven ability to lead, supervise or mentor staff, supporting performance, workload management and consistent service delivery
- Be skilled in developing engagement and intervention strategies that support positive outcomes for individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Be confident working collaboratively across teams and services to offer joined-up support
- Be able to use data and insight to identify trends, inform decision making and drive improvements in service delivery and student outcomes
