Title: Student Success Tutor - BA (Hons) Gaming
Location: London - Tower Hill & Aldgate
Working Model: Onsite
Reporting to: Director of Student Success/ Student Success Team Lead
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Position
What You'll Be Doing
As a Student Success Tutor for BA (Hons) Gaming, you’ll play a central role in shaping student journeys from Visual Culture at Level 3 through to final projects at Level 6. You’ll provide proactive academic support and personal tutoring, alongside hands-on technical guidance in Unreal Engine/UEFN and the wider games development pipeline, from research and development to final outcome. You’ll work collaboratively with the programme team and student services to help every learner succeed. This isn’t just about teaching — it’s about transformation.
This is a full-time position (5 days a week) and weekend work will be required for this role as we are open 7 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and group academic support to help BA Gaming students understand course material, develop creative and technical skills, and achieve success across Levels 3–6.
- Provide practical, workshop-style support in Unreal Engine and UEFN, helping students build games and game environments and make effective use of the engine’s tools.
- Support students through the research and development phases of their projects, including concept, texture, and asset work using Adobe Photoshop and Substance Painter.
- Guide students through the games development pipeline — from research, ideation, and prototyping through to production, testing, iteration, and final outcome.
- Support students at the advanced stages of the course with scripting and programming (e.g., Unreal Engine Blueprints, C++ or C#), including debugging and problem-solving.
- Act as a personal academic tutor, building strong relationships to create individual support and development plans.
- Identify at-risk students using data (e.g., attendance, performance, project progress) and implement early intervention strategies.
- Facilitate SMART goal setting and monitor progress against project milestones and production schedules through regular check-ins and feedback.
- Collaborate with well-being, careers, and academic teams to connect students to relevant resources, including industry practice and professional development opportunities (e.g., portfolios, game jams, showcases).
- Provide ad-hoc classroom cover where required, including practical lab and studio sessions, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff.
- Deliver pre-prepared teaching materials and facilitate sessions in an engaging and supportive manner.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment in classrooms and computer labs, managing student behavior in line with college policies.
- Liaise with the BA Gaming programme team to ensure accurate handover, continuity of content delivery, and alignment of support with module briefs and assessment requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, plans, and outcomes to support continuous improvement.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that respects and celebrates diverse backgrounds.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
