Student Support Specialist
Salary: £26,000 - £30,000
Location: Hybrid role – some home working with regular travel to sites in the South of England/London and occasional travel to Wolverhampton for training and meetings. Candidates will ideally be based in the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire regions.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives and outcomes of students with SEND and EHCPs. You’ll play a key role in strengthening SEND provision across the organisation, working closely with centres to ensure students receive personalised, effective support that helps them thrive.
You’ll lead and coordinate engaging SEND training for staff, share practical strategies and interventions, develop resources linked to EHCP outcomes, and help shape a Support Plan process that puts students’ individual needs at the heart of what we do.
Alongside this, you’ll champion a culture of inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing, helping to ensure every young person feels supported, valued and able to reach their potential.
✨ What You’ll Be Doing ✨
- Champion and strengthen SEND provision across the organisation, with a particular focus on students with EHCPs.
- Work closely with centres, staff, and Local Authorities to ensure students receive personalised, effective support that enables them to thrive.
- Monitor student progress and provision, ensuring EHCP needs, strategies and interventions are reflected in effective Support Plans.
- Build positive relationships with students, acting as an advocate for their needs and ensuring they receive the support they are entitled to.
- Support centres with EHCP consultations, assessments, and annual reviews.
- Develop and share practical resources, strategies, and interventions to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes.
🎓 Training & Development 🎓
- Deliver engaging SEND training and workshops that build staff knowledge, confidence, and practical skills.
- Keep up to date with SEND legislation, guidance, and best practice, particularly within post-16 education.
- Mentor and support staff to strengthen teaching, learning, assessment, and inclusive practice.
- Evaluate the impact of training and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

- Develop and embed effective SEND/EHCP processes, policies, and support systems across the organisation.
- Strengthen the connection between EHCP outcomes, interventions, and wider student support.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to staff and centres on SEND-related matters.
- Contribute to a culture of inclusion, high expectations, and continuous improvement.
🛡️ Safeguarding 🛡️
- Champion student wellbeing and safeguarding, including the prevention of radicalisation and promotion of British Values.
- All employees are expected to understand and uphold their safeguarding responsibilities, with appropriate DBS and safer recruitment checks required.
✅ What You Need to Bring to the Table ✅
- Level 2 in English and Maths
- Knowledge & experience of standards in teaching & training
- Sound understanding of student needs, barriers, and effective interventions
- Dyslexia, ADHD, and autism CPD training
- Level 3 teaching qualification with the ability to train and develop others
- Good presentation, communications, and interpersonal skills
- Driver with own vehicle and willingness to travel (the role will include travel to our South East & London centres and occasional travel to the West Midlands for meetings and training)
💡 Bonus points if you have..
- Level 2 ADHD or Level 3 Dyslexia qualifications
- Level 4 or 5 teaching qualification
- Post Graduate Specialist Teaching qualification in SEND
