About NUSU
We are Newcastle University Students' Union (NUSU) – an innovative, and student-led organisation dedicated to making the university experience unforgettable. As a charity, we are committed to enriching student life through exciting opportunities, wellbeing support, and championing the student voice. Working closely with Newcastle University, we’re right at the heart of campus, offering a dynamic space that includes a live music venue, bar, supermarket, merchandise shop, food outlets, study spaces, and more.
The Student Voice team aims to fulfil NUSU’s commitment to ensuring that students are empowered to shape their student experience, influence the Students’ Union, and have their voices heard locally and nationally.
Role Summary
This is a people-focused role where you will work directly with students helping them turn ideas and ambitions into meaningful change. You will support a wide range of student groups, elected student leaders, and individual students. This could include supporting students to bring motions to Student Council, supporting student ACTions and campaigns, and providing practical advice to help students influence policy, experience, and culture on campus. You will also coordinate representation for underrepresented groups, such as Liberation Officers, and support students to understand and engage with NUSU’s democratic processes.
No two years will look the same. Every year you will work with new students, respond to new priorities, and help students find effective ways to make their voices heard.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
