Wood Mackenzie’s Brand & Creative team produces high-quality creative output at pace, supporting the business across a wide range of design, video, motion, and brand projects. As Studio Manager, you will be the operational backbone of the team — embedded in the daily workflow, driving prioritization, managing resources, and ensuring projects move forward with clarity and momentum.
This is a hands-on, high-influence role. You will work alongside a talented group of designers and video specialists in our Edinburgh studio as well as partnering with our brand manager, providing the day-to-day oversight and direction that keeps the team focused on what matters most. You will also manage our freelance and agency supplier network, which spans the UK and internationally, and act as a key interface and first point of contact between the creative team and stakeholders across the wider marketing function and organization.
Key Responsibilities
Studio Operations & Project Management
- Own the day-to-day running of the studio, ensuring all projects are tracked, prioritized, and delivered on time.
- Administer and continuously improve the team’s use of Asana as the central workflow management system — ensuring it is kept accurate, up to date, and used consistently across the team.
- Maintain a clear, up-to-date picture of current and future team capacity and workload, flagging risks and resolving bottlenecks proactively.
- Chair regular team stand-ups and project reviews, ensuring actions are clear and followed through.
- Maintain and communicate clear SLAs for creative delivery, ensuring stakeholders understand turnaround commitments and that the team consistently meets them — escalating where timelines are at risk.
Brief Management & Creative Quality Control
- Act as the first point of review for incoming briefs, ensuring they are sufficiently developed before creative resource is committed.
- Push back constructively on briefs that are unclear, incomplete, or disproportionate in scope — protecting the team’s time and focus.
- Intervene where projects risk becoming overcomplicated, helping the team find practical, efficient routes to strong creative output.
- Drive internal approval processes, ensuring the right brand and creative leaders are involved at the right points in the workflow and that sign-off does not become a bottleneck.
- Work closely with the Brand Manager to ensure that on-brand templates and common visual assets are developed, properly stored, and actively reused across projects — reducing unnecessary rework and ensuring the team’s time is focused on genuinely new creative challenges rather than recreating existing solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Resource, Supplier & Budget Management
- Manage the team’s freelance and agency supplier relationships, ensuring the right resource is engaged at the right time and at the right cost.

- Monitor supplier output and ensure it meets the team’s standards and project requirements.

- Regularly report on creative operations performance to the Head of Brand & Creative, providing insight and recommendations.
- Use reporting and performance data to drive a culture of continuous improvement across studio operations.
