Overall Job Purpose:
To assist in the day-to-day smooth running of courses and exhibitions at The Royal Drawing School, providing key service to students, tutors, models, and the Education teams. Studio Technicians are responsible for the management of studios and storage spaces across all venues and are expected to exhibit a great understanding of Health and Safety.
Working with the Technician Manager, you will aid in the smooth day-to-day running of the school's studios and Print Room, ensuring the upkeep, appropriate usage, and set-up of studios and that materials are well stocked and available. You will support the Technician Manager in preparing and organizing all school exhibitions and events, working with the wider technician team and department managers as needed, and with the Facilities Team to ensure studios and exhibition spaces meet the highest standards of Health and Safety. As a representative of the School, you should be approachable, build excellent rapport with students and tutors, and maintain excellent flexibility and time management. This role involves a good deal of manual work — including hanging artwork, moving and lifting furniture, basic carpentry, and general studio cleaning — and calls for someone proactive who can work independently as well as part of a team.

- Bags up used studio linens for laundry collection at the end of the day, ready for collection.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
