Randstad Student Support are recruiting for Specialist 1:1 Study Skills Support Workers to work with students who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in St. Andrews.
The role is set to begin and is a hybrid role. All successful candidates must be able to travel to the local University or college and offer both in-person and online sessions flexibly to meet student preferences.
Role Responsibilities
As a Specialist 1:1 Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan that has been tailored to the students' needs and encourages them to become an independent learner.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Developing independence
- Building on strengths and learning strategies
- Creating strategies around organisation and time management
- Creating action plans to stay on track with studies
- Building on research skills: widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
- Distinguishing appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
- Building on comprehension skills within reading and writing
Requirements For The Role
As this is a specialist role, you must hold membership with one of the below relevant professional bodies. All students you will be supporting are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) meaning all candidates providing this role must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE:

Desirable Skills Include
- Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
- Punctuality and reliability
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of students
