About the Role

As Sub-Agent, you will lead the delivery of a major section of bulk earthworks and formation within the HS2 programme. Managing and developing a high-performing engineering team you will provide leadership and technical guidance to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency at every stage of the project.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and mentor the engineering team, providing clear direction, technical guidance, and support to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery across all activities.
  • Develop and manage detailed mass-haul and seasonal work plans, ensuring accurate forecasting, resource allocation, and alignment with programme milestones.
  • Oversee constructability reviews, sequencing strategies, and temporary works planning, identifying risks and implementing effective mitigation measures to maintain progress and safety.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial and Planning teams, monitoring costs, schedules, and productivity to ensure financial and programme targets are achieved.
  • Provide technical expertise and professional development opportunities to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in civil engineering or construction management, ideally on large-scale infrastructure projects involving earthworks.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop engineering teams.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and quality standards, ensuring compliance across all site activities.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities, capable of delivering in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Civil Engineering degree, and ideally working towards ICE professional accreditation.
