The Role
We are urgently recruiting a Sub Agent to join a tier one main contractor. In this role, you will take direct responsibility for managing subcontractors and site engineering teams delivering complex groundworks and reinforced concrete (RC) packages for a new structural link bridge.
This initial assignment runs through to March 2027, with strong performance unlocking long-term, multi-year pipeline opportunities across the client's regional framework.
Reporting into the Project Manager, you will lead daily site execution, focusing on heavy civils, groundworks, and structural concrete packages. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Package Management: Taking end-to-end operational ownership of groundworks and RC packages, ensuring full technical compliance and safety standard enforcement.
- Temporary Works and Deep Foundations: Managing complex temporary works schemes, including cofferdam installations, working platform creation/maintenance, and deep foundations.
- Subcontractor and Engineering Leadership: Coordinating specialist subcontractors and direct site engineers, managing daily resources, and keeping the short-term lookahead programme on track.
- Technical QA and Commercial Support: Overseeing ITP sign-offs, TQs/RFIs, site diaries, and capturing scope changes to support the commercial team.
- HSEQ Compliance: Enforcing strict site safety rules, RAMS, and environmental controls on a regulated, high-security site.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
