We are currently looking for a Sub Agent to join our team in Cumbria, supporting the delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure project. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional to take ownership of key sections of work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Role Responsibilities
As a Sub Agent, you will support the successful delivery of construction activities by managing sections of work, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all engineering controls are implemented accurately and works are delivered in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Producing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work to support the safe delivery of construction activities.
- Managing site operations to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Programming and coordinating works to maximise the efficient use of labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors.
- Monitoring progress against programme and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Leading the resolution of technical challenges and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinating site teams and supply chain partners to ensure effective delivery and consistent performance.
- Maintaining compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality management systems.
- Promoting and embedding a positive safety culture in support of our 100% Safe values.
- Managing project risks in line with company procedures and industry best practice.
- Supporting quality assurance processes and addressing quality issues in collaboration with project teams.
- Delivering briefings and ensuring site personnel understand project requirements and safe methods of working.
- Managing labour resources, including direct employees, subcontractors, and agency personnel.
- Supporting the development, supervision, and performance of site teams through coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Coordinating material requirements and site deliveries while ensuring compliance with environmental and waste management requirements.
- Monitoring supply chain performance and supporting effective stakeholder relationships.
- Completing accurate daily and weekly records and project reporting requirements.
- Contributing to business improvement initiatives and promoting a culture of operational excellence and Perfect Delivery.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Relevant CSCS card.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods, specifications, and testing requirements.
- Experience supporting the delivery of infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Sound understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements within a construction environment.
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Experience producing risk assessments, method statements, and construction records.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery processes.
- Strong planning, organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management systems.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and site resources.
- Knowledge of project risk management and mitigation processes.
- CRE Accreditation.
- PTS certification.
- Specialist knowledge within a relevant civil engineering discipline.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Initiative-taking and purposeful approach.
- Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve project objectives.
- Strong diligence and commitment to quality.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Commitment to the highest standards of safety, integrity, and professional conduct.
