Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site sub-contractor Welder Fabricator role based in Sittingbourne. The role involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications, measuring and cutting materials, and fabricating components using welding and metalworking techniques.

  • MIG/TIG welding
  • Assembling and fitting structural and non-structural steelwork
  • Carrying out repairs and modifications
  • Ensuring work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards

The Welder Fabricator will collaborate with site teams, maintain equipment and tools, follow health and safety procedures, and complete documentation such as job sheets and quality checks. Travel to different project sites may be required depending on workload and project needs.

Qualifications

  • Strong welding skills (e.g., MIG, TIG, arc welding) and proven experience in metal fabrication and structural steelwork.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and fabrication sketches accurately.
  • Competence in using workshop tools and machinery, such as grinders, saws, drills, cutting equipment, and welding plant.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety standards, safe working practices, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, quality-focused workmanship, and ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades.
  • Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications or certifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, coded welding) are highly beneficial.
  • Full, valid driving licence and willingness to travel to local project sites as required.
