Job Title: Construction Subcontract Engineer
Location: Talacre, North Wales
Contract: Initially 12 Months (Extendable up until December 2028)
Rate: Negotiable dependent on experience (Outside IR35 LTD)
Requirements: 5.5 days on site per week
As a Construction Subcontract Engineer, you will report directly to the Subcontract Manager and be responsible for the development, management, and improvement of subcontract scopes covering Mechanical Works (West & Buildings) and E&I Works throughout the engineering and development phases of the Decommissioning & Carbon Capture & Storage project.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure subcontract administration procedures are implemented and adhered to by all subcontractors.
- Prepare and issue letters and notices to subcontractors as required, ensuring all incoming correspondence is appropriately addressed.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Review and validate subcontractor progress payment applications.
- Support the project management team in identifying variations and claims that may impact project schedules and cost forecasts.
- Analyse Site Technical Queries (STQs), Site Instructions (SIs), and Deviation Requests to determine cost implications and lead commercial negotiations with subcontractors.
- Ensure extra works, new unit rates, claims, back charges, liquidated damages, and subcontract close-out activities are managed in accordance with company procedures.
- Actively participate in change management and forecast analysis processes.
- Ensure the timely issuance of Completion Certificates.
- Manage the setup and maintenance of contracts and price lists within Colav (Work Progress Management System), including all revisions.
- Provide guidance to subcontractors on the correct submission of Work Progress (WP), New Prices (NP), and Change Work Orders (CWO).
- Support subcontractors with the submission of required backup documentation for WP, NP, and CWO applications.
- Monitor and report on the alignment between physical progress and economic progress.
- Perform forecast analysis and provide commercial insights to project stakeholders.

Experience
- 3-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Oil & Gas or Energy sectors, preferably on large-scale construction projects.
- Onshore project experience is essential.
- Candidates with a combination of onshore and offshore experience are encouraged to apply.
Desirable Skills
- Strong subcontract administration and commercial management experience.
- Proven ability to manage variations, claims, and change control processes.
- Experience working within EPC/EPCI project environments.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in contract management and project controls systems.
