Subcontract Lead
Location: Bristol
Working pattern: Hybrid — 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home
We’re looking for a Subcontract Lead to manage the supply chain for a major British Army training programme. Reporting to the Programme Director, you’ll oversee the subcontract lifecycle and work closely with suppliers to deliver against cost, schedule and performance commitments.
What you’ll do
- Prepare requests for proposals and quotations, and assess supplier responses.
- Lead subcontract negotiations covering terms, pricing and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance against monthly KPIs and resolve delivery issues.
- Identify supply chain risks, including supplier financial stability, and find opportunities to improve value and efficiency.
- Review invoices, manage supplier NDAs and advise colleagues on subcontract matters.
- Manage export obligations in line with end-user certificates and applicable ITAR/TAA requirements.

What you’ll bring
- Strong experience in subcontract management, supplier engagement and contract delivery within a complex defence environment.
- The ability to lead negotiations, solve problems and influence stakeholders across different disciplines.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, performance and export obligations.
- A collaborative, detail-focused approach and the resilience to manage competing priorities.

MCIPS or a project management qualification would be an advantage. A military background is not required.
