The role includes preparing accounts, assisting with tax returns, VAT returns, and occasionally bookkeeping. This is a part-time, subcontract role based in Ashford, with home working and occasional meetings locally with the scope to turn into an employed role.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in bookkeeping, accounts preparation, VAT, and corporation tax.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools (e.g., cloud-based platforms, Excel).
  • Knowledge of UK tax regulations for sole traders and limited companies, including VAT and self-assessment.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in numerical work, and effective time management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a hybrid environment (office in Ashford and work from home).
  • Relevant accounting qualification or working toward one (e.g., AAT, ACCA, or equivalent) is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in practice-based accountancy or working with small businesses is essential.
