The Role
As Subcontractor Manager, you will take day-to-day responsibility for overseeing subcontractor activities on site. You will ensure all works are properly planned, authorised, supervised, and delivered in full compliance with Health & Safety requirements and company procedures.
You will act as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, working closely with operational teams to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update SMOC records for all subcontractors.
- Verify that all subcontractor documentation is current and compliant prior to granting site access.

- Monitor subcontractor performance and report any Health & Safety concerns to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the ISM with day-to-day operational tasks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
