About The Post

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational literacy specialist to join Twynham TGS as Subject Leader: Literacy. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher who is passionate about improving the life chances of young people through literacy. The successful candidate will lead and develop our literacy strategy across both schools, ensuring that every student develops the reading, writing, spelling and oracy skills needed to flourish both in education and beyond.

Working across Twynham School and The Grange School (collectively known as ‘Twynham TGS’), you will provide strategic leadership for literacy whilst leading our specialist literacy team and overseeing literacy interventions for students who require additional support. The role combines whole-school leadership with direct impact on students through targeted intervention, curriculum development and the promotion of a culture where reading is valued and celebrated.

As part of our commitment to inclusion, you will play a key role in supporting students with literacy barriers, including those with dyslexia, ensuring that students who have not met age-related expectations make rapid and sustained progress. You will lead reading assessment, literacy screening and evidence-informed approaches to improving literacy outcomes across the curriculum.

This position would suit either an experienced literacy leader seeking a new challenge or an outstanding classroom practitioner with specialist literacy expertise who is ready to take the next step into middle leadership.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Lead and develop the literacy strategy across Twynham TGS.
  • Lead and manage our specialist literacy team and literacy intervention programmes.
  • Deliver targeted support for students with literacy barriers, including those with dyslexia.
  • Work collaboratively with English, SEND and pastoral leaders to improve outcomes for students.
  • Use evidence-informed approaches to strengthen literacy provision across both schools.
  • Monitor, evaluate and continually improve the impact of literacy interventions.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
